Functional Core 4

The Functional Core 4 is a bundle of four different profiles designed to provide a cost effective means for the practitioner to assess the state of health of a patient with diverse, and often hard to ascribe symptoms. The tests included in this profile are the P88 Dietary Antigen Test (serum), the Advanced Intestinal Barrier Assessment, the Advanced Oxidative Stress Test, and the Advanced Adrenal Stress Test. Taken together, this series of tests can act as a fundamental assessment of the state of health of a patient through a functional paradigm. This collection adds an analysis of the root causes of symptoms like brain fog, lack of energy, general inflammation, gastrointestinal issues, feelings of accelerated aging, stress, and feeling drained. Symptoms that are difficult to diagnose, but are of great concern to the patient.

Since this is a bundle of tests rather than a separate testing regimen, you will collect specimens as required for each of the tests that are part of the profile, and receive a separate result for each each of the tests in the bundle for each patient. If you need guidance on collection instructions, please see the specifics for each individual test included next to its description on our website. Likewise, to see the full sample report for each of these tests, please also navigate to each test listing on the website. A summary interpretation with condensed descriptions of the tests including sample reports is available next to this description.

Here is a summary of the tests included in the profile:

P88 Dietary Antigen Test– This test analyzes four different immune reactions to 88 different common foods. Reactions included are IgE, IgG, IgG4, and Complement (C3d). A full report that details comprehensive results, results by category, indexes of how the each result interacts with the others, and personalized elimination diets are included with each patient result. This comprehensive test of immune reactions resulting from foods, helps you identify and address food allergies and food sensitivities in patients.

Advanced Intestinal Barrier Assessment– This assessment measures gut barrier health. Histamine and diamine oxidase (DAO) give information about histamine balance and gut mucosal health. Plasma zonulin is a well documented marker of intestinal tight junctions. LPS antibodies give information about inflammation and intestinal permeability. The Advanced IBA profile helps identify the root cause of barrier dysfunction.

Advanced Oxidative Stress Test– This profile measures total glutathione, reduced glutathione, F2 isoprostane, and 8-OH-2deoxyguanosine from whole blood and urine specimens. Most well-known for its role in aging, oxidative stress has been implicated in countless chronic diseases. Assessing your patient’s oxidative stress can be critical for healing and preventing long term conditions that last into old age.

Advanced Adrenal Stress Test– This test measures 4-point cortisol, DHEA, and secretory IgA (sIgA) in a convenient saliva specimen. Checking patients for low or high cortisol over the course of the day is essential to address fatigue, insomnia, thyroid disorders, or weight gain, which simply isn’t feasible with blood based adrenal tests.

Functional Core 3

The Functional Core 3 bundles the P88 Dietary Antigen Test, the Advanced Intestinal Barrier Assessment, and the Advanced Oxidative Stress Test. This removes the Adrenal Stress Test and allows the practitioner to concentrate on the other three tests, following the triggers of food allergies and sensitivities to the damage done to the microbiome and intestinal tissues and further to the resulting inflammation and resultant oxidative stress for a patient.

Functional Core 2

The Functional Core 2 bundles the P88 Dietary Antigen Test with the Advanced Intestinal Barrier Assessment in order to take both a look at food triggers and their intestinal and microbiotic impact.
