Are you ready for what (and who?) we have joining us for Spring Grand Rounds?! We are thrilled to announce that Dr. Cheryl Burdette will be joining us to offer a special 2-hour intensive on markers of gut-based inflammation and killer chronic diseases: From Bug To Toxin,Finding The Individual In The Process of Chronic Disease.
As we start peeling back the layers of the inflammation to look for the root cause of disease, what we quickly realize is that it is multifactorial. Underlying reasons for progression of chronic disease could be because of gut based inflammation, toxins, oxidative stress, nutritional deficiencies, or mental/emotional stress to name a few. If all could contribute, how do we know which area is most important for each patient?
How do we guide our individualization of patient care? By looking at markers of gut-based inflammation such as Zonulin, LPS, sIgA and at the same time that we capture levels of oxidative stress through 8-OHdG, F2-Isoprostane and intercellular levels of glutathione we capture a great overview of underlying issues that are driving that patient’s inflammation. These markers have association with cardiovascular disease as well as cancer, our two biggest killers.
